Full range of flexible packaging solutions – with a special focus on design for recycling

The EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is shaking up the industry. The content has now been adopted and the PPWR is going through the formal adoption process. This makes it the perfect time to adapt packaging strategies to future requirements with foresight – preferably in a personal dialogue with experts. The adapa team will be on hand at Hispack from 10 to 12 May in Barcelona.

The flexible packaging professionals are committed to finding the optimum packaging solution for every product, combining individual customer requirements with the most sparing use of resources. adapa already offers an extensive portfolio of modern design for recycling packaging solutions based on PP, PE and paper for a wide range of applications.

An excerpt from the Hispack trade fair highlights:

MonoFlowre E-type and P-type – flowpacks designed for recycling

With MonoFlowre E-type and P-type, adapa proves that design for recycling does not always have to come at the expense of efficiency. The two product families of flowpack films based on polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) are the result of many years of continuous development and customer co-operation. adapa has succeeded in combining maximum performance with design for recycling. The films have excellent machinability and, depending on the packaging line, can achieve up to 120 cycles/minute. Thanks to many years of extensive experience in the development of high-performance films, e.g. CPP materials with a low S.I.T. value and innovative MDO PE films, adapa’s MonoFlowre films are also suitable for particularly demanding products. With various barrier options and printing processes, they can be customised to meet individual customer requirements.

PaperTwisterre – highest performance meets certified recyclability

With the revised assessment criteria for the recyclability of paper, the majority of packaging currently on the market that uses coatings or waxes will have to be converted. Manufacturers who want to adapt their twist packaging in good time are on the safe side with adapa and the PaperTwisterre: the paper-based twist wrap for confectionery such as toffees or sweets combines outstanding performance with design for recycling certified by CEPI (4EverGreen) and OPRL (CPI). With a paper content of 90 per cent and a vegetable coating, as a standard paper or metallised version in thicknesses of 40 to 50 g/m2, it can be used as a single or double twist and for folding applications. With up to 2,300 pieces per minute, the twist wrap demonstrates impressive runnability, both on established twist packaging machines and on modern high-speed lines.

Optimised design for recycling – the EcoString bag with 80% PCR content

In order to save as many resources as possible, packaging should be both recyclable and made from post-consumer recyclates. adapa has developed a product family of pure PE drawstring bags that contain a high proportion of 80% PCR. In these smart solutions, even the typical viscose tape is made from PE: either as tape made from edge strips from production or as PE cord that looks exactly like the previous viscose string. With this solution, the consumer experience remains the same, but manufacturers gain a USP by improving the recyclability of their packaging.

SkinFreshTop Expert – premium appearance meets resource conservation

In times of tighter budgets, consumers are looking even more closely at the value they get for their money. The SkinFreshTop Expert range of skin films from adapa emphasises the value of the packaging content at the POS: highly transparent and glossy, the enhanced films in the SkinFreshTop range ensure a premium appearance on the shelf and provide the decisive impetus for consumers’ purchasing decisions. Thanks to their reliable performance, the innovative high-barrier films also impress customers from the very first test runs. For material-saving applications, we have succeeded in further reducing the film thickness while maintaining the same high performance. With thicknesses of just 80-150 µm, SkinFreshTop Expert reliably packs articles of different heights as well as meat products with bones. They seal against PE sealing layers or APET and PP mono films and trays. In combination with PP bottom films – also from adapa – complete high-quality skin packaging solutions are created.
