International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from TPC Group to supply a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system for the abatement of nitrogen oxides (NOx) at the power boiler in Houston, TX, USA.

TPC Group, a leading manufacturer of petrochemical products, is strategically investing to increase production capacity while meeting stringent local NOx emission standards as regulated by local, state and federal agencies.

TPC Group’s decision to partner with ANDRITZ was based on the success of previous NOx abatement projects in North America, Europe, and Asia, which solidified ANDRITZ’s position as a trusted technology provider.

ANDRITZ will design and supply a comprehensive SCR system for an existing natural gas-fired boiler. The system is designed for the highest NOx removal efficiencies utilizing the full advantages of well-proven and optimized ANDRITZ technology. As an additional feature a special catalyst will reduce CO emissions in the event of a boiler start-up or shutdown. ANDRITZ will also be responsible for the erection and commissioning of the SCR system. The package also includes training of operating and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless integration. The system is scheduled to go into operation in July 2024.

ANDRITZ is a leading global supplier of a wide range of flue gas treatment systems with over 30 years of experience and hundreds of installations around the world.

TPC Group, headquartered in Houston, is a leading producer of value-added products derived from petrochemical raw materials. With an operating history of 80 years, TPC Group has manufacturing facilities in the industrial corridor adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel and Port Neches, Texas, and operates a product terminal in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
