Avient's colorants and additives produced at its Tangerang, Indonesia, facility get Halal certification expansion, complying with Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Regulation by the Council of Ulama, following the brands certified since 2019

Avient Obtains Halal Certification Expansion to Include its Colorants and Additives Produced at the Tangerang, Indonesia Facility.

TANGERANG, Indonesia – November 30, 2023 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, is pleased to announce its OnColor™, Smartbatch™, and ColorMatrix™ colorants and additives produced at the Tangerang site are now certified to comply with Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Regulation 33/2014 by the Council of Ulama, Indonesia. This expands the Halal certification already obtained for Remafin™, Renol™, Cesa™, Hiformer™, and Omnicolor™ brands since 2019.  

“This extended certification acknowledges our firm commitment to meet Halal requirements where they apply,” said Say-Eng Lee, vice president and general manager, Color and Additives Asia at Avient. “With about 230 million followers of Islam, Indonesia has the world’s largest Muslim population, and we recognize the importance of Halal compliance in our production of colorants and additives for packaging in this country. Our Halal assurance system at Tangerang pledges that we use only Halal-approved raw materials.”  

Beyond food and beverages, drugs, cosmetics, and any other consumer goods used or applied by humans, the regulation extends to manufacturing processes and the compliance of packaging products. The Halal certification obtained by Avient includes its products that provide various visual enhancement effects and functional additives in solid and liquid form, which are used in a wide range of plastic for containers, caps, closures, film, and sheet applications by manufacturers throughout Indonesia and other predominantly Muslim countries.
