FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – October 9, 2023 – Avient Corporation, a leading provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, announced its latest offering, Stat-Tech™ TPE Static Dissipative & Electrically Conductive Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPEs), which will be launched at the upcoming Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing. These new TPEs offer electrical resistivity from 100Ω to 1010Ω, providing a solution to prevent electromagnetic and radio frequency interference in critical electrical components.

Avient will also feature new LubriOne™ Internally Lubricated Formulations that are made without polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Following proposals from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to restrict the use of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), these grades extend Avient’s LubriOne™ formulations portfolio avoiding the use of fluorinated lubricants such as PTFE.

“Improving the safety and reliability of part performance is a challenge our customers often bring to us,” said Matt Mitchell, director of global marketing, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient. “The new Stat-Tech TPEs have been developed to help enhance system performance, whether protecting sensitive electronics from interference, shielding electronics in Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), or avoiding static build-up in industrial applications such as conveyor belts.”

In addition to its electrical conductivity, Stat-Tech TPEs offer benefits compared to silicone and thermoset rubber, including simplified manufacturing due to single-step fabrication, more design freedom for complex geometries, and 2-component overmolding directly onto polymer substrates, reducing processing steps. The formulations also meet regulatory compliance requirements, including ATEX and ESD. Six standard grades are available, ranging in hardness levels from 40 – 85 Shore A. However, formulations can be customized depending on application requirements. Additional food contact compliance grades are also available.

Avient’s new LubriOne Internally Lubricated Formulations made without PTFE are available across multiple polymer systems with comparable performance capabilities to conventional internally lubricated grades.

Attendees at Fakuma 2023 are encouraged to visit Avient’s booth 5316 in Hall B5 from October 17 – 21 in Friedrichshafen, Germany to learn more.
