FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – October 9, 2023 – Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced the launch of Cesa™ Unify™ A4R, a compatibilizer additive developed to enhance and support the use of recycled polyolefins. This latest addition to the Additives for Recycling (A4R) portfolio of solutions helps bring incompatible polymers, such as PP and PE, together by forming them into a homogenous polymer mixture that increases mechanical properties based on polymer modification and will be exhibited at the upcoming Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing.

With more post-consumer recycled materials (PCR) entering the value chain, brand owners, recyclers, and converters are faced with new and increasing challenges related to recycling. This compatibilizer additive can help overcome some of these challenges, allowing industry players to continue incorporating greater quantities of PCR in polyolefin applications.

When added to the recycled mixed polymers, Cesa Unify A4R addresses the common material degradation that occurs during the recycling process. It accomplishes this by increasing stiffness and mechanical strength, thereby bringing the material's properties closer to those of the virgin polymer. This improvement in the polymer's properties enables recyclers to attain higher-quality recycled materials, allowing brand owners and converters to produce cost-effective PCR end-products with the desired performance properties.

Cesa Unify A4R is a compatibilizer additive for use with recycled polyolefins, which helps enhance circularity. It can be used in various applications, including packaging and consumer products.

Avient is leading the way in helping to support a more sustainable and circular economy through improved polyolefin recycling. Attendees at Fakuma 2023 are encouraged to visit Avient’s booth 5316 in Hall B5 from October 17 – 21 in Friedrichshafen, Germany to learn more.
