WILMINGTON, Del., October 14, 2023 – Ashland is presenting new Rad-Sure™ blood irradiation indicators at the 2023 AABB Annual Meeting, Nashville, TN, October 14 to 17, 2023. Rad- Sure™ blood irradiation indicators are used to verify that the blood has been irradiated properly for transfusion purposes. Blood is irradiated to inactivate white blood cells present to prevent transfusion-associated graft-vs-host disease (TA-GvHD). “Ashland’s Rad-Sure™ blood irradiation indicators, when used in combination with our Dose-Map™ dosimetry system help ensure patients get the desired irradiated blood products they need for their treatment,” said Anandh Viswanathan, business director, diagnostic films, life sciences, Ashland. Rad-Sure™ blood irradiation indicators provide positive visual verification of irradiation at the minimum specified dose. Stored at room temperature, the new versions of Rad- Sure™ blood irradiation indicators can be used interchangeably with gamma and x-ray radiation sources. Dose-Map™ blood irradiator dosimetry system provides a simple method for confirming the dose delivered by a blood irradiator.
