Agiplast, a global leader in the recycling of high performance thermoplastics since 1994, joined Arkema group in 2021. Within Agiplast, Arkema’s Virtucycle® custom recycling program has now developed a range of more than 15 certified grades. Specialty polyamides and PVDF are reprocessed at Arkema’s Agiplast state-of-the art recycling center in Italy. They are mechanically recycled using only renewable electricity. With its unique expertise in analysis and regeneration of post-industrial or post-consumer polymers, Arkema is ideally positioned to work with its customers in their eco-design approach and to help them to improve their carbon footprint. Arkema collaborates with upstream and downstream partners from a wide variety of markets to develop high performance polymer grades with a minimum of 30% recycled content and is certified by major certification body SCS Global Services. “Incorporating recycled content into products is an excellent way to lower the overall environmental impact of polymers and reduce raw material extraction” states Nicole Munoz, Vice President of Environmental Certification Services at SCS Global Services. “Arkema’s expanding portfolio of polymers containing certified recycled content positions them well in today’s carbon-conscious marketplace.” “Our legacy of recycling high performance thermoplastics for 30 years is something that Arkema is particularly proud of, as we are to work with our global customers to develop more sustainable solutions using the vast experience of our Agiplast team” said Francois Tanguy, manager of Arkema’s Recycling business and Virtucycle® program. “Our customers demand advanced materials that have lower climate change impacts, result in less depletion of natural resources, and deliver uncompromised performance. It’s an opportunity for true circularity: some customers wish to contribute polymers to the recycling loop, while others wish to source polymers with recycled content.
