Rosboro to invest more than US$100M in its Springfield, Oregon, manufacturing site; investment will include a technologically advanced glulam production plant with 70 mmbf/year capacity and other upgrades to improve efficiency and raw material utilization

SPRINGFIELD, Oregon , August 1, 2023 (press release) –

Rosboro Company, LLC has announced several large projects that will expand and modernize the Company’s vertically integrated production process.

Rosboro, North America’s largest producer of glue-laminated timber, is investing over $100M in new production infrastructure at their Springfield manufacturing campus. The investment will include a technologically advanced glue-laminated timber manufacturing plant capable of producing 70 million board feet annually, and upgrades to all phases of production geared towards improving raw material utilization and production efficiencies.

The announced projects will expand the capacity and flexibility of Rosboro’s vertically integrated production process, which converts logs into finished glulam beams and columns for residential and commercial construction.

Rosboro’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Development, Brian Wells, stated, “The distributors who carry Rosboro’s flagship X-Beam® stock glulam and other Rosboro Engineered Wood Products are the premier EWP distributors in their markets. They rely on us to supply a steady stream of high-quality, cost-effective framing solutions. We are making this investment to ensure that our partners can continue to grow their successful X-Beam programs for many years to come.”

“X-Beam is already produced from 2nd and 3rd generation plantation forests, and these investments will improve raw material utilization and allow us to continue as leading stewards of this valuable renewable resource,” said Wells.

According to Rosboro CEO Rich Babcock, “These investments build on the legacy of success that Rosboro has forged since our first sawmill began operating in Springfield in 1939. We are proud of our position as a premier supplier of glulam framing solutions and are excited that these investments will ensure the long-term success of our employees and customers and make a positive impact on our community.”

Construction will be completed in several phases, and the company expects the full investment to be operational in 2026. Once operational, the new facilities will employ up to 100 people.
