The Madison’s Lumber Prices Index for the week ending June 23, 2023 is: US$442 mfbm This is up by +5.2%, or +$22, from the previous week when it was US$420. For information regarding the construction of this Index (species mix, weighed averages) please go here: https://madisonsreport.com/madisons-lumber-prices-index-a-powerful-tool-for-data-driven-decision-making/ A note on this new index from Madison's Lumber Reporter: The Chicago Mercantile Exchange has made a change to Lumber Futures. The new Madison’s Lumber Prices Index is constructed using the same species as Futures (WSPF, ESPF, Douglas fir, Hem-Fir), with weighed averages based on the North America production volume ratio over the past few years.
On Monday, May 15 the traditional futures trading board is being retired, and the new futures (which was started a year ago) will be the only ticker. As such, there will be no historical comparison beyond mid-2022.
