The THEBAULT Group announces the creation of a new and 6th wood processing unit Located in Auvergne, this new plant is intended to unroll Pectiné fir logs, then to assemble veneers for the manufacture of LVL – Lamibois panels and beams. Specialist in the peeling and production of plywood, the THEBAULT Group continues its industrial development in the manufacture of wood products intended in particular for construction and industry. We are also strengthening our commitment to industrial implementation in France. THE PROJECT IN FIGURES The project represents a projected investment of nearly 100 million Euros. This new site will see the construction of a 25,000 m² factory on a 15-hectare plot located on the Parc d'activité Sud Auvergne, in Lempdes-sur-Allagnon (43), at the crossroads of the departments of Cantal, Haute-Loire and Puy de Dôme. Eventually, the plant will ensure a production of 100,000 m3 of LVL entirely "Made in France", with a first phase at 70,000 m3. The start-up of the site is scheduled for 2025 and will create 85 direct jobs, mostly from local employment areas. Driven by a fast-growing market, this French production of wood engineering products will expand the range of bio-sourced materials contributing to the decarbonization of the building sector. "Our industrialization project will support the development of new solutions for low-carbon and off-site construction, as well as renovation," said Antoine THEBAULT, President of the THEBAULT Group. IN SYNERGY WITH OTHER SPECIES The choice of a new and 4th essence with Sapin Pectiné is strategically a strength in the THEBAULT Group's markets. With Okoumé, Poplar, Maritime Pine and Pectiné Fir panels for softwoods, the THEBAULT Group is the manufacturer offering the widest range of species, all in French production. This new production unit is part of the THEBAULT Group's strategy to expand its range, in synergy with species already processed, while securing its wood supply for the coming decades. The Pectiné fir, endemic and historical species of the Massif-Central, convinced with its excellent mechanical qualities and was selected for the industrialization of LVL products. These products will carry the PEFC and Bois de France sustainability management labels, and global certifications, all acclaimed in the construction sectors for which LVL beams and panels are intended. . A SUPPORTED AND SHARED PROJECT An emblematic project of the France 2030 Investment Plan in its decarbonization component, the new THEBAULT Group unit will participate in the industrial development of local wood resources. This project benefits from the financial support of the State via its operator ADEME. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the Syndicat intercommunal pour le développement économique Allier Allagnon complete the funding. With its successful industrial associations, the THEBAULT Group shares its investment with a first partner, the company CBD Bois, specialized in sawing softwoods based in Craponnes-sur-Arzon (43). . DID YOU SAY LVL? The LVL, for Laminated Veneer Lumber, is also called Lamibois in French. It is the wood engineering product par excellence. The THEBAULT Group's production will be available in panels and formats for the realization of beams, with recognized characteristics: The increase in the share of wood products such as plywood and LVL in construction contributes, along with carbon sequestration, to the fight against global warming. A process similar to plywood The industrial process is strongly reminiscent of plywood and this is also why the THEBAULT Group is committed to the creation of this new large-scale industrial tool. Our culture of permanent investment in our industrial facilities allows us today to be able to count on efficient and competitive sites. We will continue, true to our family DNA, to invest to improve the safety of the facilities and sustain our group by seeking the best productivity. Many applications The LVL can be used in floors, roofs and wood frames, frame, bracing, elevation or renovation. It is also found in carpentry or furniture, and for the manufacture of highly solicited elements or panels.
The THEBAULT Group will represent, at least, 75% of the shareholding.
