The specially designed Pro Plug system allows for hidden face-fastening for Ridge Premium’s fluted deck boards. Envision Outdoor Living Products is expanding its fastener lineup with the addition of the Pro Plug® Hidden Fastening System for its Ridge Premium composite decking collection. Fluted deck boards, common among composite manufacturers, are not widely available for use with Starborn’s well-known Pro Plug system; Envision worked directly with Starborn to develop modifications that will accommodate Ridge Premium’s budget-friendly fluted deck boards. The Pro Plug System for Ridge Premium includes the three components of the original Pro Plug: epoxy-coated carbon steel screws or stainless steel screws; a patented PVC/Composite tool that attaches to a standard drill/driver to drive screws to the correct depth without overdriving or stripping the screw; and plugs made with Envision’s decking material for a perfect match to the deck boards. In addition, it includes a template specific to Ridge Premium’s fluted boards; using the template to mark or pre-drill the holes ensures the fasteners are driven into the full thickness of the deck boards, not into the grooved areas. Once marked, installers simply drive the screw using the attachment until the Auto-Stop™ mechanism fully engages, insert the color-matched plug into the hole, and tap it into place with a smooth-face hammer for a seamless surface. “Our customers love Pro Plug for our full-profile composite deck boards and have been asking for an option for Ridge Premium,” said Kyle Warwick, Fastener Category Manager and Central Valley Division Manager for Envision. “We worked directly with Starborn to develop a solution that would ensure the integrity of Ridge Premium decking, including conducting extensive pull-through and uplift testing.
