STOCKHOLM , February 9, 2024 (press release) –

Sustainable textile material company Spinnova was featured in two exceptional fashion collections at the Fashion Collaboration spring show by Beckmans College of Design. The collections are designed by two fashion design talents, Emma Carling and Miranda Berg.

The fashion design student collections include seven creative looks made in collaboration with Spinnova. Collections by Emma Carling and Miranda Berg focus on the experimental use of sustainable materials and were presented in two shows at Gasverket, Doubble Space in Stockholm.

"My collection is inspired by glamping or glamourous camping. It’s been rewarding to see the idea come alive by using Spinnova’s outdoor fabric in alluring looks. The fabric allowed me to range over new silhouettes and forest-related references," says Emma Carling.

"It has been a pleasure working with Spinnova and exploring Spinnova’s fibre. This collection is exploring how fashion can be used as a therapeutic medium. Spinnova’s fibre originates from nature and has a calming effect – just like nature. It is such a promising material with a lot of benefits," explains Miranda Berg.

The Spinnova looks in the collections use fabrics made from a blend of SPINNOVA® fibre and cotton. Fabrics are combined with other exceptional materials such as horsehair. The SPINNOVA® fibre for the collections is made from wood and it is produced without using any harmful chemicals in the fibre spinning process. When SPINNOVA® fibre is produced from certified eucalyptus pulp, it has various environmental benefits such as 99% less water consumption and 74% fewer CO2 emissions compared to conventional cotton*.

"We’re excited to work with open-minded, insightful young designers. We are amazed by the creativity and courage Emma and Miranda have shown and are proud to be part of their journey in the fashion world," says Diana Balanescu, Brand Director at Spinnova.

*CO2e emission comparison is based on a projected product carbon footprint conducted by a third-party expert following the ISO 14067:2018 standard. Ecoinvent database has been used as the source for global average CO2e emissions of conventional cotton. Water consumption comparison is based on a projected, screening Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by a third-party expert. Both comparisons include raw material supply, transportation of raw materials, and manufacturing of the product (cradle-to-gate).
