February 16, 2024 (press release) –

Sofidel has announced plans to invest US$12.9 million in the company’s Frouard, France, production facility.

The expansion project will add another biomass boiler to the factory, allowing Sofidel to further reduce its carbon footprint, BNN reports. The Frouard facility already is receiving partial power from an existing biomass boiler. Once the second boiler is operational, the two boilers will provide 95% of the energy required to heat the drying cylinders of the plant’s two paper machines, reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to 9,100 tons per year.
