  • Company to introduce next-generation technologies such as 100 percent bio-based raw material plastic at K 2022 in Germany
  • LG Chem’s On Experience Zone to focus on themes of sustainable life, society and future

LG Chem will unveil numerous next-generation eco-friendly technologies at the at K 2022, the world’s largest plastic and rubber exhibition taking place from October 19-26 in Düsseldorf, Germany, among them next-generation material technologies such as plastic made with 100 percent bio-materials. LG Chem’s exhibit will focus on the three themes of sustainable life, society and future and will present scenes of a sustainable future through the application of LG Chem’s next-generation technologies all contributing to the company’s commitment to be Net Zero by 2050.

Held every three years in Düsseldorf, Germany, K Show is the largest plastic and rubber trade show in the world and one of the top three global trade shows of its kind alongside NPE of the USA and Chinaplas of China. Over 3,000 companies from 60 countries are expected to participate in this year’s 70-year anniversary event.

LG Chem’s exhibit will showcase next-generation materials that are viewed by many as sustainable materials for the future: 100 percent bio-based plastics such as polylactic acids (PLAs) and polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalates (PBATs), which degrade naturally within six months when buried. Also featured will be next-generation regenerated products such as post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics. The highlight will be LG Chem’s Aerogel, the high-performance insulation material for spaceflight composed of more than 95 percent gas – making it the lightest solid in the world – that blocks battery thermal runaway due to its resistance to water and fire. LG Chem will also showcase its popular products such as solar panel film polyolefin elastomer (POE) and carbon nanotube (CNT), both produced with high-quality proprietary technologies to cement the company’s pioneering leadership in the global market.

LG Chem On, the first-of-its-kind digital integrated purchasing platform in the petrochemical industry, will be demonstrated at K 2022 under the theme, Sustainability with LG Chem. By allowing real-time confirmation of orders and deliveries, LG Chem customers will experience the same level of customer service and transparency they’ve come to expect from online shopping sites.

“We expect to generate significant interested among global customers with our next-generation sustainability materials and technologies,” said Noh Kug-lae, head of LG Chem’s Petrochemical Business. “We are committed to expanding our eco-friendly portfolio in line with the needs of the global market and the eco-friendly materials sector.”
