fischertechnik is category winner at the Toy Award

The toy manufacturer fischertechnik wins the Toy Award, one of the most important seals of quality in the industry, with its new product Animal Friends. The fischertechnik construction kit Animal Friends convinced the jury with its sustainable concept in the "Sustainability" category. The components of the construction kit for children from the age of six consist of 60 percent renewable raw materials. In recent years, the toy manufacturer "Made in Germany" has already launched a number of construction kits on the market that are intended to promote the idea of sustainability.

The renowned Toy Award is presented annually during the Spielwarenmesse, which this year takes place in digital form. When selecting the winners, the expert jury was convinced by the sustainable concept of the fischertechnik construction kit Animal Friends – not without well-known reasons: Sammy the spider, Sandy the scorpion, Henry the horse, Larry the lizard and Cleo the cat are the five sympathetic "residents" of the kit (available from March 2022, RRP 54.90 euros). Children from the age of six can not only look forward to the first animal figures that fischertechnik is bringing to the market. The new colours orange and green, in which the total of 222 parts are kept, also convey a lot of fun when assembling.

However, Animal Friends not only inspires with its funny models, but also with its well-founded sustainability aspect: The plastic components consist of 60 percent renewable raw materials. The basis is castor oil, which is obtained from the seed of the miracle tree. Thus, there is no competition to food and feed and no risk that agricultural land required by humans and animals will be used. In addition, fischertechnik has also designed the packaging of the components to be sustainable.

When designing the modular system, the developers were able to draw on the expertise in the field of fischer fastening systems, which have already made a "Greenline" product line marketable. The corresponding dowels and the mounting mortar also consist of 60 percent renewable raw materials and have the same holding forces as the rest of the product range. The bioplastic used at fischertechnik also ensures the same high quality of the building blocks as is the case with conventional fischertechnik building blocks.

The Toy Award was presented for the 15th time this year. The criteria according to which the expert jury awards the prizes are, for example, fun, originality, safety, workmanship and quality.
