The company has been a proud supporter of HOPE’s Latina History Day conference, which brought together one thousand women in Los Angeles and New York to recognize and celebrate the historic and current achievements of Latinas. At The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), we are committed to helping build a world where there are limitless possibilities for all women and girls. In recent years, women and, in particular, Latinas and other women of color, continue to face compounding obstacles to their advancement. To make the greatest impact, we continue to seek out partnerships with organizations that are doing the critical work to address systemic challenges in access to advancements for women and girls. This year, we’re proud to have celebrated 15 years of partnership with Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization based in Los Angeles committed to ensuring political and economic parity for Latinas through leadership, advocacy, and education to benefit all communities and the status of women. For over 30 years, HOPE, which is committed to extending their work nationally to support Latinas across the United States, has hosted its annual Latina History Day conference in Los Angeles, an event that embraces the rich diversity of the Latina experience and provides a forum to learn about and discuss topics such as health, education, and finance. Celebrating 15 Years With HOPE in Los Angeles Earlier this year, ELC celebrated 15 years of partnership with HOPE at the LA-based Latina History Day conference, which brought together nearly 1,200 Latinas from California and leaders from across ELC and our brands. Alicia Romero, Vice President, Brand Integrated Communications and Cultural Relevancy, North America, spoke on a panel focused on how attendees could drive inclusive representation in their own careers by bringing their authentic selves to the table. Allison Pollack, Executive Director, North America Marketing, Too Faced, introduced California’s Future History Makers at the conference and presented each honoree with a gift basket of products provided by Too Faced, Smashbox, and GLAMGLOW, plus a limited-edition Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Pretty Powerful Pot Rouge, which was launched for Women’s History Month. The honorees also received a glam experience, provided by Smashbox and Aveda. Keynote speakers during the conference’s morning and luncheon programs included director and producer Gloria Calderón Kellett; actor and producer Justina Machado; political strategist and commentator Ana Navarro; comedian, actor, and producer Cristela Alonzo; and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Prior to the conference, HOPE and ELC hosted a VIP salon where attendees had the opportunity to hear from leaders across government and ELC business. Featured during the salon panel was ELC’s Fran Torres, Director, Visual Merchandising Operations, Smashbox and GLAMGLOW North America, who shared her journey of discovery throughout her career in the beauty industry, particularly as a new mother. She was joined on the panel by Lourdes Castro Ramirez, California’s Secretary of Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency; the Honorable Hydee Feldstein Soto, Los Angeles City Attorney; and the Honorable Holly J. Mitchell, Los Angeles County Supervisor for the Second District. As part of ELC’s support of the LA-based conference, the Estée Lauder brand and MAC generously provided products from their respective portfolios to all attendees. Additionally, at the VIP salon, attendees received products from Aveda and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. Aveda also had a presence at the conference’s Comadre Network and Exhibit, treating attendees to personalized Chakra Goal Intention Setting experiences. Supporting HOPE’s Growth Nationally With national expansion in recent years, ELC was honored to be an underwriting sponsor for HOPE’s second annual Latina History Day in New York on May 4, a day which is now formally recognized in the state. Michelle Freyre, President, Global Brands, Clinique and Origins, represented ELC to introduce the inaugural National Future History Maker honorees, recognizing 3 college-aged Latinas from New York City, Chicago, and Boston, who are working to make an impact in their communities. To help celebrate their achievements, the honorees received a glam experience from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and Bumble and bumble at ELC’s global headquarters in New York City and a gift bag of products from Clinique, Origins, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. All attendees also received gift bags courtesy of Clinique. The afternoon brought together leaders across public and private sectors for the release of HOPE’s report on the Economic Status of Latinas in New York, made possible in part by ELC. The report compiles insights from cross-sector focus groups of self-identifying Latinas to better understand how to support their economic advancement and career trajectories. The findings give insight into key economic indicators and share recommendations for how decision-makers can advance economic equity for Latinas across the state. ELC is excited to continue supporting HOPE as they work toward a more beautiful future for Latinas in the United States to benefit all communities and the status of women.
