Uralkali Celebrates the Miner’s Day

August 28, 2023 (press release) –

Every year, on the last Sunday of August, Uralkali traditionally celebrates the Miner’s Day. Ahead of this important day for the mining industry, 506 employees of the Company received certificates of appreciation from the Energy Ministry of Russia, certificates of merit from their departments, and other awards from Uralkali and its trade union.

10 employees were awarded with the Miner’s Glory badge, and five of them have now become the full cavaliers of this honour.

Also in anticipation of the Miner’s Day, results of the annual contest of professional skills were announced. In the team category, awards were given to 18 best mining combine crews. 22 individual awards were presented to the best mining supervisors, mining combine crew leaders, backfilling operators, and backfilling supervisors. In a contest between mine administrations, Solikamsk-1 was named the best mine in Uralkali.

The Miner’s Day is traditionally celebrated with Uralkali’s support on the same day as the City Day of Solikamsk, which this year will be held on 26 August. The programme of the festival includes interactive and sport events, musical and dance performances, and art master classes. There will also be a tour around Solikamsk, which includes a walk down the Salt Verst – a newly renovated embankment of the River Usolka in the old town. Uralkali’s cultural and recreational centre will host a regional festival of poetry and bard music. The day’s festivities will culminate in a concert and a fireworks show.

Vitaly Lauk, Uralkali CEO:

I would like to express my most sincere appreciation of our labour veterans who have laid a strong foundation for the achievements that Uralkali can boast today, and thank them for sharing their invaluable experience, contributing to the preservation of the best traditions of our industry, and raising a new generation of decent young miners.
