May 2, 2023 (press release) –

Syngenta Crop Protection, a global leader in agricultural innovation, today announced its acquisition of Macspred Australia, a specialist in weed management for the forestry, roads, rail, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

The acquisition marks Syngenta’s entry – through its Professional Solutions business – into the forestry products and vegetation markets. It also secures Syngenta’s ability to service both large-scale commercial plantation customers, as well as a growing farm forestry clientele focused on improving financial sustainability and environmental biodiversity on the farm.

Macspred has specialized in vegetation management in the forestry and industrial sectors for more than 30 years, researching and developing products specifically for these situations.

“This acquisition reflects Syngenta’s continued commitment and investment into bringing innovative and comprehensive solutions to professional and consumer customers around the world,” said Mike Parkin, Global Head of Syngenta Professional Solutions. “Macspred Australia is a perfect fit. With their vast experience in the forestry and industrial vegetation managements markets, we aim to better serve our customers in Australia and also globally across other key forestry and landscape markets. With the scale of our network and our cutting-edge R&D capabilities, we are well positioned to bring further innovation to this exciting and growing market.”

The acquisition is for 100% ownership and includes all products, toll formulation, manufacturing and distributorship sites, warehousing, and intellectual property. Financial terms for the acquisition were not disclosed.
