The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) is pleased to announce two promotions on its senior management team. Chris Weeks has been promoted to VP of program integrity. Weeks joined GSA, then the Global Aquaculture Alliance, in 2017. He was promoted to program integrity manager in 2019 and director in 2021. As VP of program integrity, Weeks oversees GSA’s program integrity team, which is responsible for supporting standards development for GSA’s Best Aquaculture Practices and Best Seafood Practices certification programs, for providing quality assurance, technical support and training for the certification standards, and for the development and implementation of special projects that align with GSA’s mission to advance responsible seafood practices worldwide through education, advocacy and demonstration. Previously, Weeks acted as aquaculture extension specialist at Michigan State University. He holds a Ph.D. in fisheries-aquaculture and fish nutrition from Michigan State University and a M.S. in fisheries-wild fisheries populations dynamics. “I am proud to be part of an integrity department and institution that continues to demonstrate leadership in stakeholder assurances that wild caught and farmed seafood can be responsibly sourced across the entire production chain. Stay tuned for exciting new programs coming out of GSA in the near future,” said Weeks. Belinda Braley has been promoted to chief people officer. Braley joined GSA as VP of human resources, diversity and inclusion in 2018. In her role, she leads all strategic and tactical human resources processes and programs for GSA, manages talent acquisition and development, develops and executes training for the management team as it relates to performance management, and works to strengthen employee engagement through development of recognition, wellness, communication, career development and career-planning programs. Braley is also an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of New Hampshire and a professional Senior HR Professional (SCP) through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science. “It is my privilege to work in partnership with the bright, talented and dedicated team members of GSA as we engage in work that matters,” said Braley. “I am continually inspired by the collective passion for our shared mission.” “As with most things in life both Chris and Belinda had previously moved to these new roles and are just now being recognized with these promotions,” said GSA CEO Wally Stevens.
