In the internationally recognised EcoVadis rating for sustainability, PKV received a gold medal for its activities and progress for the first time.

In the internationally recognised EcoVadis rating for sustainability, PKV received a gold medal for its activities and progress for the first time – an award for the top five percent of all companies evaluated.

“There is no doubt that there are more important things at the moment. We are all concerned about peace in Europe, about cohesion in our society and also about a successful energy supply. But the last point in particular shows how closely security and stability are linked to a course towards sustainable and independent development,” says PKV shareholder Kristian Evers. “With the EcoVadis Gold Medal, we can record a small further step on this path for our company. One thing is clear: there are still enormously important future tasks to be solved on the way to climate-neutral paper production. We want to continue on this path consistently through all the uncertainties.”

Since 2007, EcoVadis has analysed the performance of more than 90,000 companies from 160 countries worldwide in the fields of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000. Each participating company is assessed against 21 indicators in four thematic areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

PKV scored particularly well in the area of “Environment”, which is particularly concerned with the establishment of and compliance with numerous regulations on high standards in terms of environmental compatibility. The sustainability report published by PKV for the first time in 2022 with targets on energy and emissions management, among other things, was also rated positively here.
