Lidl to open new store in Fresh Meadows, New York, on July 31

Today, Lidl US, leading value grocer, has announced that it will open its newest store on Wednesday, July 31st in Queens County, New York. The store is located at 187-04 Horace Harding Expy, in Fresh Meadows. Local leaders will welcome Lidl to the community at a ribbon cutting event starting at 7:30 a.m., which will be followed by a grand opening celebration featuring special offers for shoppers. The store will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The new location is part of Lidl’s growing store network in the Southeastern New York area. Other nearby Lidl stores in New York include locations in Elmhurst, Astoria, New Hyde Park and more. Or Raitses, Lidl’s Senior Director of Real Estate for the North Region said: “At Lidl, we are committed to bringing fresh, high-quality food to communities at affordable prices. By opening our doors in Fresh Meadows, we are thrilled to continue Lidl’s expansion in New York City and look forward to bringing exciting new products to the customers in the area.”

This Lidl store will create approximately 40 new jobs. A 2024 Top Employer, Lidl provides comprehensive benefits, including healthcare for all full-and-part-time positions, regardless of hours worked per week. Starting pay for all store associates will be $19 per hour.

Grand Opening Celebration Details 

At the grand opening event, the first 100 customers in line before the store opens at 8:00 a.m. will receive a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each. Shoppers can also sample Lidl’s award-winning assortment and take advantage of special giveaways.

As part of its commitment to support the community, Lidl will be making equal donations to City Harvest and the Food Bank for New York City, both of which aid families in the area, including Queens County. Lidl will donate $1 for each shopper who signs up for the myLidl app and sets Fresh Meadows as their store throughout opening weekend.
