Tecnau and Heidelberg USA are pleased to unveil together a continuous web direct mail finishing line at Printing United 2023 in Atlanta, October 18 – 20. In the exhibition in Tecnau booth B2806, Tecnau’s Unwinder u50, Cutter c52 and Transport t50s bridge will feed sheets from preprinted rolls to the Heidelberg Stahlfolder TH 66 Hybrid. Customers benefit from the confidence instilled in choosing a pairing of two market leaders in their respective finishing segments. The resulting solution produces folded mail pieces at up to 656 feet per minute (200 meters per minute), offline or inline with high-speed digital inkjet presses.

Tecnau’s Unwinder u50 is part of the recently launched Revolution 50 Roll-to-Roll system, running speeds up to 820 fpm, roll paper widths up to 22.5” and roll paper weights from 40 – 350 gsm. The double-cutting Cutter c52 includes a number of unique features:

  • Retractable cut section for easy jam clearance and blade changes in half the time of competitive systems
  • The most user-friendly graphic user interface for quicker learning
  • External adjustments to allow operators to adjust-while-running, supporting quicker job changeovers

The just-launched Transport t50s feeds sheets to 3rd-party devices in a minimum of footprint – alternatively, Tecnau’s Single Sheet Bypass Conveyor supports flexible operation, outputting stacks to a conveyor or sheets to 3rd-party devices.

The Heidelberg Stahlfolder TH 66 Hybrid features the versatility of the hybrid feeder coupled with the option to pile feed into a proven, robust automated folding solution from Stahl.

Says Chris Raney, Heidelberg Vice President of Product Management, Postpress, “This new partnership brings an exciting opportunity to the market. For the first time customers are able to choose a Stahl folder to integrate into a digital finishing line supplied and managed by Tecnau.

This joint exhibition signals a partnership between Heidelberg USA and Tecnau to offer integrated high-speed web-fed folding solutions to the marketplace,” said Pete Dolfis, vice president of sales for Tecnau. “This is an exciting addition to the Tecnau portfolio of solutions which we believe will bring solid value to Tecnau current and future customers.
