HarperCollins today announced that Abby West will join Amistad, the most respected and storied African American imprint in publishing, as VP, Editorial Director on September 12. About HarperCollins
West comes to HarperCollins from Audible, where she was Director of Inclusive Content Programming, overseeing the company’s Hear My Story program and working to amplify diverse voices, narratives, and content across all audio entertainment genres and formats. A journalist and digital content strategist, Abby has also held editorial roles at Essence, Entertainment Weekly, and People, developing a love for stories that explore, empower, and celebrate underrepresented communities.
“Last year Amistad celebrated its 35th anniversary as the most respected and storied African American imprint in publishing,” said Judith Curr, President & Publisher of the HarperOne Group at HarperCollins. “As we look to continue to grow Amistad, I am thrilled to have Abby join the imprint. Her outstanding record of innovation and strategic content creation perfectly positions her to develop and grow the editorial vision of Amistad.”
“I am honored and excited to join the Amistad team and carry on the amazing legacy of this imprint. There is nothing like the transformative power of storytelling and I know that there are so many more stories that Amistad is uniquely positioned to help bring to life and many more authors we can champion,” said West.
