SAN MATEO ATENCO, Mexico , April 4, 2022 (press release) –

SC Johnson donated 2.4 million pesos to streamline and facilitate risk management and emergency care at the State Operations Center for the benefit of more than 17.5 million people

SC Johnson, the maker of household consumer brands such as FamilyGuard®, Glade® and Baygon®, together with the Mexican Red Cross in the State of Mexico inaugurated the State of Mexico Emergency Operations Center (COEMM), in a ceremony attended by state and municipal authorities; representatives of the Red Cross and SC Johnson. The COEMM will coordinate the attention and immediate response to the calls for help that are presented in the more than 21 thousand square kilometers of the Mexican territory, where a little more than 17.5 million people live and have permanent activity.

SC Johnson donated 2.4 million pesos for the construction, development and equipping of this Center that will monitor and coordinate the care of accidents and calls for help throughout the state territory, in addition to facilitating the management of risks generated by natural phenomena or caused by man actions in this entity and the central region of the country.

“At SC Johnson, we are pleased to know that our long-term relationship with the Red Cross allows us to continue generating a positive impact in the country. Through this donation we seek to help ensure timely emergency care is guaranteed in the State of Mexico, thus promoting the well-being and improving the lives of thousands of mexiquenses,” said Alan VanderMolen, Chief Communications Officer for SC Johnson.

The COEEM has a monitoring area that will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and will follow minute by minute the exact location of the 114 ambulances that the Mexican Red Cross currently operates in the state in order to guarantee the regional and efficient emergency coverage.

“Under the leadership of our National President, Fernando Suiniaga Cárdenas, and with the solidarity of SC Johnson, we are redoubling our efforts to improve, expand and modernize our physical infrastructure and our service vehicle fleet to be in a position to respond to any emergency and continue saving lives, as the Red Cross has done in Mexico for more than 112 years,” said Jorge Alberto Forastieri Muñoz, State Delegate in the Mexican entity.

The State of Mexico Delegation of the Mexican Red Cross currently operates 30 Local Delegations, where more than 3,700 women and men work, including volunteers and paid staff, such as Emergency Medical Technicians, nurses, doctors, youth elements, administrative staff and trainers. In 2021 alone, almost 41,000 emergency calls were answered, where victims of accidents, sudden illnesses and other contingencies that put people's lives in danger were treated, completely free of charge.

Likewise, this new State Operations Center will have a direct link with 10 operating system platforms that allow permanent monitoring of natural phenomena such as the activity of the Popocatépetl and Colima volcanoes; the minute-by-minute evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic; the National Seismological Service, the Satellite Monitoring System of operating units (ambulances) of the Mexican Red Cross, among others. It also has a Crisis Room from where institutional efforts will be coordinated to act in the face of any type of emergency.

SC Johnson's accompaniment and support to the Red Cross of the State of Mexico were redoubled during the Covid-19 health emergency, through the donation of cleaning products that made it possible to guarantee the hygiene of all its facilities and ambulances, as well as the Voluntary delivery of other protective items for operating personnel, such as gloves, face masks, face shields, and Tyvek suits.
