Metsä Tissue in the UK, in partnership with the Cleaning & Services Support Association, is delighted to reveal the shortlisted entries to its Sustainability Awards competition. The shortlist of the three best entries in each category, arranged alphabetically, is as follows: Carbon Reducer Award: Social Value Award: Renewable Energy Award: Best sustainable Marketing Initiative: Team sustainability Award: Individual Sustainability Award: “Despite having only launched last Autumn, with entries required by Christmas, the Awards programme attracted 64 entries from 43 companies, which meant that the members of the judging panel had their work cut out!” says Mika Paljakka, Metsä Tissue's Senior Vice president for Metsä Tissue Ltd, UK & Ireland. “We are delighted that the cleaning & hygiene industry is going to such great lengths to embrace sustainability in its practices and have been incredibly impressed by the projects and initiatives that this competition has brought to our attention. “If we are able to share these projects and initiatives with our industry colleagues - and, dare I suggest it, the competition, it will help ensure that we ‘do our bit’ to look after the planet whilst raising our industry’s perception in the eyes of the general public.” "Our aim in launching these Awards has been to highlight and reward sustainability practices throughout our industry and thus create a positive, lasting impact on the environment. The interest shown in this, our first competition, means we are well on the way to achieving this aim." The Awards will be presented at a sold-out black-tie event on 15th March at the iconic Cutty Sark retired tea clipper in Greenwich. Due to high level of interest in this year’s Awards, the next Awards Ceremony is already provisionally booked for 19th March 2025 – like this year, the middle day of The Cleaning Show in London. It is currently just a provisional date because The Cleaning Show itself has only provisionally booked the 18th – 20th March slot with exhibition centre ExCel. The location will likely be OceanDiva – the first carbon neutral venue on the River Thames in the heart of the City and which can accommodate many more attendees.
