Asda cuts prices on 2,500 household products by average 26% in January; company launches Big Jan Price Drop initiative amid inflation concerns for 2025

January 2, 2025 (press release) –

Asda has today announced that it will be cutting the price of thousands of products that customers buy week in, week out, as part of its Big Jan Price Drop initiative.

The price investment sees over 2,500 household staples reduced by an average of 26% and is available in-store and online. Products include Cathedral City Mature Cheddar 300g, was £3.75 now £2.50, Asda Chicken Breasts was £4.40 now £4.00, Dolmio Bolognese 450g was £2.50 now £1.50 and Persil Wonder Wash was £7 now £3.00.

The Big Jan Price Drop comes as the Asda income tracker revealed that despite household spending power continuing to improve, rising inflation is expected to continue to pose challenges for families in 2025.

Commenting on the initiative, David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Asda said: “We know that as we come out of the festive period, budgets can be a concern for many families. Our Big Jan Price Drop aims to ease that burden and make money stretch further for our customers, by reducing the prices of the products they’re buying week in, week out, continuing to offer uncompromising value to all.”
