St. Louis-based commercial cleaning and janitorial services company 4M Building Solutions (www.4-M.com), has acquired Thario Building Services in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The announcement was made jointly by Tim M. Murch, CBSE, 4M CEO and managing partner, and Thario’s ownership, the husband-and-wife team of Roger Thario, CEO, and Diane Thario, CFO. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Fast-growing 4M started a steady expansion into the upper Midwest in September 2022 with the acquisition of Eagle Enterprises in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That regional presence was boosted with the December 2023 purchase of Buttweiler Environmental in St. Cloud, MN, and the recent July acquisition of Hi-Tec Building Services, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, and serving most of that state. Murch said the Thario acquisition gives 4M more of a statewide presence. “We were primarily operating in the metro areas of Milwaukee and Madison, covering the lower third of the state. Thario’s headquarters in Green Bay and its existing portfolio gives us an immediate presence in the middle of the state, north, and communities along the coast of Lake Michigan. “Geographically, it’s an excellent fit for us, creating opportunities to expand throughout the state. More important, it’s a cultural fit,” Murch continued. “We know Thario as a company and Roger and Diane as leaders. I, and my father before his passing, associated with the Tharios for decades through our involvement in BSCAI and other industry organizations. We were real-time witnesses to the fine company they were building.” Thario Building Services is family owned. Under the leadership of Roger and Diane Thario it has been serving clients throughout Wisconsin for over 30 years. The Tharios plan to retire but will remain with 4M for several months as consultants during the acquisition transition. “Being acquired by 4M Building Solutions is a significant milestone for our company. 4M’s reputation for successful acquisitions instills confidence in the long-term success of what we’ve built in Green Bay,” said Roger Thario. “This transition promises to bring tremendous benefits to our team, offering new opportunities for growth and development. Customers will get an enhanced level of service with access to a broader range of resources.” Thario brings to 4M 290 highly trained Team Members who are responsible for cleaning nearly 8 million square feet daily. It is the largest medical cleaning provider in northeast Wisconsin and boasts a portfolio that includes educational facilities, office buildings, and manufacturing facilities. The company is also frequently tapped for post-construction cleanup. While 4M Building Solutions wholly owns and operates Thario, it will continue to operate in Wisconsin under the Thario brand to profit from the equity of its decades-long presence in and around Greater Green Bay. As part of the purchase, 4M will operate from Thario’s Green Bay office, 2936 Holmgren Way.
