DULOE, United Kingdom , May 19, 2022 (press release) –

The high quality and excellent durability of outdoor furniture manufactured in recycled plastic by Plaswood®, a Berry Global product, were the key reasons for its selection for a number of luxury holiday cottages in Cornwall.

Old Lanwarnick Cottages in Duloe has purchased a variety of tables, chairs and benches for the six cottages on its 34-acre site, near to beautiful beaches and the fishing towns of Looe and Polperro.

Plaswood® lumber provides a perfect example of plastics’ role in the circular economy, as it is manufactured completely from recycled plastic removed from the waste stream. The material is waterproof and easy to clean, making it more hygienic than traditional timber alternatives. It will also not rot, splinter, or deteriorate over time, and therefore offers the perfect solution for all types of outdoor furniture and equipment.

Plaswood® outdoor furniture range is also maintenance free and does not require painting or chemical treatment at any point in its lifespan, saving both time and cost in comparison to the upkeep of more traditional materials.

All these benefits appealed strongly to Old Lanwarnick Cottages, as owner Vicky Brown explained:

“We chose Plaswood® furniture as we were looking for something durable and with minimal maintenance that still looked good and fitted in with the cottages. We love the fact that these are made from recycled plastic, fitting in with our environmental ethos.”

Plaswood® products demonstrate Berry Global’s leadership in recycling technology and the company’s commitment, as part of its Impact 2025 sustainability strategy, to develop innovative solutions to help companies meet their sustainability goals. The company is seeing particular strong demand for its outdoor furniture in the hospitality and leisure industries, in part driven by the increase in staycations by consumers as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Old Lanwarnick Cottages reported a 35% increase in sales in 2021 compared to the last pre-pandemic year of 2019, with high demand extending the traditional season.

“We are really happy with the Plaswood® products, which do not look like plastic at all,” concluded Vicky Brown. “They are very sturdy and will definitely stand the test of time. We have had lots of great comments about the furniture from our guests. As and when we need to replace more of our existing garden furniture, we will definitely be replacing it with Plaswood®.”
