This Fall, Macy’s hosts a transactional round-up and online donation campaign Macy’s, Inc. spotlights Hispanic and Latino-owned, founded and designed brands at New York, NY – September 16, 2024 – Macy's, Inc. (NYSE: M) celebrates the legacy, strength and contributions of Hispanics and Latinos this fall in partnership with Hispanic Federation. From September 15th through October 15th, Macy’s will host a special round-up in-stores and online donation campaign benefitting Hispanic Federation. Funds will support CREAR Futuros, a student mentorship program that has empowered nearly 7,000 Latino students across the country to further their educational pursuits and reach their full potential. Macy’s, Inc. nameplates will also highlight Hispanic and Latino-owned, founded and designed brands online and in-store to expand, deepen and differentiate our product assortment for customers in addition to providing educational and funding opportunities through The Workshop at Macy’s and S.P.U.R. Pathways as part of its commitment to empower underrepresented businesses and suppliers. “Through our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, we are committed to providing customers, colleagues and communities with a variety of products and services from Hispanic and Latino-owned, founded and designed brands. Alongside our efforts to provide underrepresented brands and creators the opportunity to grow and expand customer reach, we collaborate with national and local organizations to provide critical funds and resources to youth nationwide,” said Abigail James, Macy’s, Inc. chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer. “Our longstanding partnerships with the Hispanic Federation and impactful nonprofit organizations demonstrates our commitment to providing Hispanic and Latino youth with educational resources, mentorship opportunities, and foundational tools to empower the leaders of tomorrow.” Since 2022, Macy’s has raised more than $2.4 million for Hispanic Federation, with critical funds directly supporting Hispanic Federation’s CREAR Futuros program, which provides Latino students and mentees tutoring services, financial aid, and additional resources to support their development and education. Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. CREAR Futuros is a free peer-mentor program that has served nearly 8,000 students and recruits qualified Latinx students in participating educational institutions to mentor, guide, and support younger students, or mentees. Mentors assist mentees regarding tutoring, financial aid, and resources available to them including, services offered by Hispanic Federation's community-based member organizations. This past year, Hispanic Federation announced the expansion of CREAR Futuros to Illinois and North Carolina as well as two new schools in New York State. This year CREAR expanded to California! CREAR Futuros data indicates that the college retention rate of participants was 10% higher than that of their peers, proof that the program could help address higher education inequities affecting Latinos. Participating students also had significantly higher GPAs and earned 20 more credits on average. With the expansion of the program, nearly 1,100 mentors and mentees will participate in the 2024-2025 academic year across 13 campuses. For comparison, the program served more than 1000 students across twelve campuses in the 2023-2024 academic year.
