It´s been a while since that the incorrect disposal of garbage has become a threat to the planet's biodiversity. And how does the industry react and contribute to solving this sad reality? A important point is the packaging.

In recent years, paper has become a protagonist in the global cleaning race, as packaging can be reused in the industrial process thanks to intelligent recycling processes and the use of biodegradable finishes. These new solutions for a more sustainable world will be present at the Bienal do Lixo, at the stand of Ibema, a paperboard manufacturer with factories in Turvo (PR) and Embu das Artes (SP). The event takes place at Parque Villa-Lobos, in São Paulo, from May 26 to June 5.

Ibema have sustainability in its DNA: that is why its stand portrays the importance of changing habits and rethinking choices to improve the environment and our social environment. For this, it is necessary to educate and set an example through the engagement of all, since recycling is a chain.

“In 2021, Ibema recycled three million kilograms of scrap and post-consumer materials, which we use to manufacture new papers. The expectation for 2022 is to remove 4.5 million kilos of waste from circulation by the end of the year”, says Ibema's Strategy and Marketing manager, Diego Gracia.

The calculation includes post-consumer cardboard, paper and corrugated scraps that would go to the trash, but that, through circular economy processes, return to the factory and add to the composition of Ibema Ritagli, the first post-consumer duplex and triplex paperboard. of the Brazilian market. The product is made with 50% recycled fibers, with 30% coming from recycling.

Aimed at the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries and suitable for indirect contact with food, Ritagli guarantees rigidity and printability in white or cream back.

“We are pleased to contribute to cleaning up our environment in a sustainable way, but we also recognize the growing consumer interest in recycling. That's why we offer brand owners a really effective reverse logistics alternative, in line with new consumer behavior”, adds Gracia.
