According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, the country imported record-high amounts of recovered paper in 2021, Euwid reported on Mar. 10.

Destatis reported that Germany’s recovered paper imports in 2021 stood at 5.3 million tonnes, whereas the country imported 4.4 million tonnes in 2020. The biggest increases for imports came from France and Denmark. 

Meanwhile, Destatis also reported that Germany exported record-low amounts of recovered paper in 2021, a decrease of 16% year-over-year.
