Through the acquisition of the Finish Kotkamills Group Oyj, MM Karton expanded its position in the market for virgin fiber based board (FBB) and food service board (FSB). It also complemented the established market position in recycled fiber based cartonboard. MM Kotkamills operates two cartonboard/paper machines at the integrated site in Kotka (Southern Finland). The FBB/FSB board machine BM2 was modernized together with Bellmer in 2016. The saturated Kraft paper/impregnated paper machine PM1 with 170,000 t/a capacity is now being rebuilt again with Bellmer. The scope of supply includes a completely new press section including a TurboPress shoe press, the pre-dryer section will be rebuilt, new pulpers under machine pulpers will be erected, as will the reduction of steam and condensate consumption. MM Kotkamills is the leading supplier of saturated papers, used for example in laminate production. The investment will increase the capacity by 15,000 t/a.
