Stromsdal orders US$2M paperboard machine rebuild from Vaahto for its Juankoski, Finland, mill; capacity to increase to 80,000 tonnes/year

JUANKOSKI, Finland , December 12, 2006 (press release) – The Turn-Around investment program at Stromsdal started in August 2006.

The first step was carried out in the mechanical pulp mill, totaling slightly more than 1 Meur, aiming at improving the paperboard quality. These investment installations are carried out by the end of year 2006.

The second step of the turn around investment program includes modifications of the paperboard machine and will be carried out during spring time 2007. Vaahto Pulp & Paper Machinery will carry out the modification installations. The in-vestment is less than 2 Meur.

These modifications will ensure high quality and stability in deliveries, im-prove machine run ability and together with internal modifications reduce water usage and fiber losses.

These investments are done as a part of the Turn-Around program and they will improve the overall competitiveness. The production capacity will increase from 65,000 tons to 80,000 tons per year.
