Jaakko Poyry to provide engineering services for Kemira's proposed chemical plants near planned pulp mill in Uruguay

The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Forest Industry business group has been commissioned by Kemira S.A. to provide project management and engineering services for the chemical plants to be built in connection with Botnia's pulp mill in Uruguay. The contract value is more than EUR 2.5 million.
Apart from project management and engineering services, the assignment comprises an option to deliver construction management, site services and commissioning services. The services will be provided by several business units of the Forest Industry business group. Kemira is building chemical plants in connection with Botnia's chemical pulp mill in Uruguay to supply sodium chlorate, chlorine dioxide and oxygen for the mill's needs. Kemira's investment will total approximately EUR 60 million. The Jaakko Pöyry Group's forest industry business group uses the trade name Jaakko Pöyry. Its net sales for 2004 were EUR 186 million. The Forest Industry business group has offices in 19 countries and a staff of 2100 experts worldwide. Kemira Group's core business areas are pulp and paper chemicals, water treatment chemicals, industrial chemicals and paints and coatings. The net sales of the Group is approx. EUR 1.8 billion and Kemira has production in over 30 countries. The company employs about 7,000 persons. Kemira's shares are listed on the Helsinki Stock Exhange.
