CIBC: China's May lumber imports up 5% year-over-year to 2.33 million m3 at average cost of US$318/m3, log imports up 15% to 4.6 million m3 at average price of US$242/m3; year-to-date lumber and log imports up 11% and 26%, respectively

* Lumber - In May 2014 China imported 2,330,000 m3 of lumber at an average cost of $318 per m3. Lumber imports are up 5% compared to May 2013 and up 11% YTD compared to the same period last year.

* Logs - In May 2014 China imported 4,600,000 m3 of logs at an average price of $242 per m3. Log imports are up 15% compared to May 2013 and are up a significant 26% YTD.

* Month over month, pulp imports are up 5% for June 2014, lumber imports are up 12% for May 2014 and log imports are down 10% for May 2014. Month-over-month prices are down 4% for pulp for June 2014, down 2% for lumber for May 2014 and up slightly for logs for May 2014.
