DETROIT , July 9, 2014 (Plastics News (CBNB Abstracts)) – Set from 3Q 2014 until 1H 2016, construction for an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) unit has been proposed by Braskem at its facility in La Porte, TX. Sold under the UTEC brand, the company's self-lubricating UHMWPE offers ideal abrasion resistance, coefficient of friction, impact strength and machinability for semi-finished goods. Eight times lighter than steel and ten times more durable than HDPE, UTEC has a wide range of industrial applications: agriculture, automotive, battery separators, coal and mining, construction, food and beverage, high-performance fibers, pulp and paper, textiles and waste water treatment.
