Metsä Board has successfully restructured since it began strategy in 2006 to focus on paperboard, aims for at least 25% growth in paperboard products in 2014, says CEO; 75% of company's net sales now derived from paperboard and related market pulp

June 24, 2014 () – Finnish Metsä Board's CEO Mikko Helander who is about to leave the company says Metsä Board has succeeded in implementing structural changes. Since 2006, Metsä Board has had a clear strategy to develop a strong board company. Now, already 75% of its net sales come from board and related market pulp. The company's sales, market share, and profitability are constantly improving. Metsä Board is among the market leaders in Europe. In folding boxboard, it controls 35% of the capacity. In Europe, the company has managed to raise prices by 15-20% in four to five years' time. The biggest growth targets lie in North America. There, Metsä Board is aiming at a minimum of 25% growth in its board products in 2014.
