Nutrition Works, a Sports Nutrition contract manufacturer, has opted for corrugated shelf-ready packaging (SRP) for its preservative-free drinks, the Push Energy gels and Full & Slim gels, Packaging Europe reported June 23.
The company selected the colorful SRP for its protection qualities and ability to stand out on the shelf.
Additionally, the SRP provides convenience for store managers as it can be opened and placed on the shelf in less than 20 seconds, all without having to open the box and take out the packaged products for display. The secondary packaging also helps increase recyclability, as well as decrease handling costs and waste overall, according to Packaging Europe.
“We are passionate about designing and supplying great products and that goes for the packaging as well,” said Andy Barnetson, director of packaging affairs at the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI).
“Corrugated delivered the best SRP solution for the energy gels because of its dynamic presentation qualities and easy to open format.”
The retail-ready packaging for the gels also includes dietary information on the sides, which are helpful for health-conscious consumers when deciding to purchase either product, according to Packaging Europe.
The gels come in orange mango, grapefruit and passion fruit flavors, and are packaged in flexible pouches.
