WURZBURG, Germany , June 18, 2014 (press release) – PrintHouseService, a member of the KBA Group, replaced the bearers on six H-type printing units on a MAN Colorman newspaper press belonging to print group:Styria in Graz and St. Veit, Austria. It was an operation that was planned with military precision.

The main prerequisite of this mission was to replace the affected bearers within a set time frame, from a Sunday morning to a Friday evening. Nine cylinders had to be disassembled, transported to Würzburg, worked on, sent back to Austria, reassembled and adjusted. Subsequently each cylinder had to be tested. All this took place successfully within the time period given.

A precise time plan was drawn up together with Styria with the goal of keeping interruptions to production to a minimum. The processes that took place during the shifts at Styria were planned down to the minute. Personnel, transport, materials, manufacturing and equipment were all scheduled exactly in line with this plan.

Managing director Kurt Kribitz: “Replacing the bearers was necessary for us to maintain our high quality standards. We managed to carry on with our work without any interruptions to production thanks to this operation and the professionalism of PrintHouseService.”

PHS business unit director Harald Klein: “This operation has demonstrated just what a relatively small company is capable of in connection with its Parent, Koenig & Bauer. Cylinders on a Colorman have probably never been replaced as quickly as this before. The parties involved, especially the cylinder manufacturers at KBA, worked together like clockwork.”

Print group :Styria, with newspaper printing plants in Graz and St. Veit in Austria and Zagreb in Croatia, is subsidiary of the Styria Media Group founded in 1869. Print group :STYRIA’s quality standards are now even higher, which its membership to International Newspaper Color Quality Club of WAN-IFRA proves.
