SACRAMENTO, California , June 18, 2014 (press release) – In Support of Honey Bee Health, $100,000 Donated to Direct Research at Non-Profit, Project Apis m.

Today Blue Diamond Growers, the world’s largest almond processing and marketing company, launched a new line of honey flavored products across its Snack Almonds, Nut Thins and Almond Breeze brands. Just in time for summer, this latest line mixes the subtly sweet essence of honey with forward flavors to create the perfect snack or beverage to satisfy any craving.

“Honey is growing in popularity as a great natural alternative to sugar,” said Al Greenlee, Director of Marketing at Blue Diamond Growers. “Honey’s sweet, yet understated flavor adds complexity to any meal or snack. We’ve incorporated honey flavors into everything from Snack Almonds to Almond Breeze Almondmilk.”

From sweet to savory and everything in between, Blue Diamond’s new products include:

Four new flavors of Snack Almonds including, Honey Roasted, Honey Roasted Vanilla, Honey Roasted Cinnamon and Honey Roasted Chipotle come in 6 ounce cans and are developed with Blue Diamond’s unique honey roast process. Made with real honey, this line is a mix of sweet and salty flavor combinations.

Blue Diamond’s new Honey Cinnamon and Honey Mustard Nut Thins are available in 4.25 ounce boxes. Made with real almonds and a touch of honey, these wheat and gluten-free snacks are perfect for everyone.

Almond Breeze Almondmilk’s two new flavors, Hint of Honey and of Honey Vanilla, are rich and creamy with a hint of honey. Available in both the refrigerated and shelf stable cartons.
Blue Diamond also recognizes that almonds are the only crop that is completely dependent on honey bees for the pollination of its crops and that without them honey would also not exist. Since 1976, Blue Diamond has helped fund research in more than 70 projects focused on the health of bees, pollination and colony health. Blue Diamond is donating $100,000 to Project Apis m., a non-profit 501 (c) (5) organization whose mission is to direct research that will enhance the health of honey bees while improving crop production.

“We understand the importance of honey bees in the process of the food chain and the critical role that they play in the success of our business,” said John O’Shaughnessy, General Manager of Consumer Foods Division, Blue Diamond Growers. “We are committed to supporting honey bee health as demonstrated with this donation effort to Project Apis m.”
