BANGKOK , June 17, 2014 (press release) – Mr. Yothin Dumnernchanvanit, President of Double A (1991) PCL, recently participated as a speaker in a seminar on “Opportunities for Thai Business in France”. This seminar aimed to present business potential and investment opportunities in France to Thai private sector and businessmen in order to enhance investment and extend trade into foreign markets.

At the recently concluded seminar on “Opportunities for Thai Business in France” held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Thailand) with the French Embassy in Thailand, Double A Alizay mill investment was showcased as an investment success model. Double A’s investment in France shows the possibilities and the ready acceptance of the French government for Thai investors. Furthermore, Double A’s investment, which led to the turnaround of the Alizay Paper Mill, has been hailed as a shining example of public and private sector working together to rescue the mill in difficult economic period.

Mr. Yothin Dumnernchanvanit, President of Double A (1991) PCL stated that in these difficult economic times for France, Thai businesses should avail themselves of the enormous possibility and potential to invest in France and help rejuvenate the economy. “Double A’s investment in France was to re-industrialize the pulp and paper industry of the Normandie region. Support and coordination were received from both the Federal and Local Government. This created an atmosphere of trust and cooperation, which led to the success of Double A Alizay.”

Double A, leading premium copy paper producer from Thailand, rescued Alizay Paper mill through a joint effort which included the French Government and Conseil Generale de Eure. This unique cooperation and timely intervention at a time of dire economic distress in the French economy shows the commitment to help ones allies.

For over 100 years, France and Thailand have enjoyed cordial relations. These diplomatic, government-to-government relations have now been translated into direct business intervention. Double A 1991 Thailand assumed control of the Alizay mill one year after it was slated for closure. In July 2014, Double A Alizay will celebrate its 1st anniversary which will be commemorated by the re-launch of Evolve, a 100% recycled paper brand that represents the complete turnaround of this once doomed mill.
