Greek company Maxi Paper Mill is interested in building a plant in the central Serbian town of Jagodina, news service eKapija reported.
The two parties already initialed an agreement on the project on June 12 and a final deal is expected to be reached within 15 days when a delegation of the Greek company will visit Serbia, according to Jagodina mayor Dragan Markovic.
The plant would employ some 200 workers, Markovic said. It will be located in Jagodina's industrial zone, which has already attracted several foreign investors. Italian companies such as manufacturer of interior and exterior protective covers for the automotive market Confezioni Andrea, automotive textiles supplier Aunde Italia Group and kitchen furniture manufacturer Mobilturi - already operate there.
Markovic has said previously that investors consider the Serbian city as a good location for their production units because of its strategic geographical location, the subsidies of the Serb government of EUR 10,000 per each newly created job, the cheap but qualified labour force and the possibility for duty-free exports to Russia.
