BRISTOL, England , June 12, 2014 (Film and Sheet Extrusion (CBNB Abstracts)) – According to a recent AMI report "Sheet Extruders in Europe," the European plastic sheet market has recovered from the downturn in 2008 and 2009, with material consumption rising by 4% to almost 4 M tonnes. Polystyrene (PS) still has the biggest market share, with 304 out of 735 sheet plants processing PS. PET's market share has increased due to its recyclability, with 143 plants processing PET. Germany retains its position as Europe's leading sheet producer, with an output of 950,000 tonnes/y; this translates to nearly 25% of total European production. Around 11% of all thermoplastics processed in Europe are plastic sheets.
