LONDON , June 11, 2014 () – A fire broke out at US-based olefins producer Westlake Chemical's vinyls plant in Geismar in the week ended June 7. Though the incident did not directly involve any of the plant's three production facilities, one PVC unit closet to the storage unit where the fire occurred is set to be shut down as a precautionary measure, said Plant manager Jim Best. Best added that the fire did not affect production at the Geismar plant.
