June 9, 2014 () – California-headquartered burger chain Carl's Jr. will reopen an outlet in Japan by June 2015, the brand operator said Monday.

CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. said its first outlet in the country in decades will open within a year, without specifying a location.

President Michael Murphy told a press conference in Tokyo that the operator is aiming at a network of 1,000 outlets in Japan alone.

Carl's Jr. opened its first outlet in southern California in 1941 and has expanded its global network to 1,456.
