E-books account for 2.9% of book sale revenue in Germany in 2013, excluding school and professional books, up from 2.4% in 2012, finds study

, June 5, 2014 () – E-books accounted for 2.9 percent of consumer book sales revenue (excluding school and specialist books) in 2013, up from 2.4 percent in 2012, according to a study by GfK for industry group 'Boersenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels'. Consumers purchased an average of 6.4 e-books each in 2013, up from 5.5 in 2012. In 2013, 3.4 million people purchased 21.5 million e-books, compared to 2.4 million people buying 13.2 million e-books in 2012.
