UK forest management services business set up by wood panel manufacturer Egger in 2013 is attracting clients across country, says manager, notes company is working with variety of forest owners including farmers, financial institutions, business people

NEWCASTLE, U.K. , June 3, 2014 (Newcastle Journal ) – ONE of Northumberland's largest employers is celebrating additional success in the new business it set up last year.

Egger UK, which manufactures chip board products in its Hexham factory, launched its forest management business to enable landlowners across Northern England and southern Scotland to generate income from their woodland assets.

The business is run by Simon Hart who said: "It is an exciting time for forest and woodland owners across the UK, as they look to maximise the value of their investments."

Two local woodlands that the company manages are Deborah Plantation and Birsley Woods. The former is just south of Blanchland and lies within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The latter is located in Edlingham, Northumberland, and includes areas of ancient seminatural woodland.

Dave Robson, Egger Forest Management's area manager for North England and South East Scotland, and who manages both of these woodlands, added: "In addition to financial returns, owners have many objectives they want to achieve - ranging from developing the biodiversity through protecting, enhancing and increasing wildlife habitats to encouraging the public use of their woodlands.

"What I find really rewarding is working with a wide variety of forest owners, whether they are farmers, financial institutions or local business people."
