Three plywood mills in British Columbia were inducted into the APA - The Engineered Wood Association during its board of trustees meeting in May, Home Channel News reported on May 30.
The mills, Richmond Plywood Corporation Ltd. of Richmond, LP in Golden, and Canoe Forest Products Limited of Canoe, will commence APA membership on Aug. 1.
Richmond Plywood is a co-op dating back to 1956, and has 282 shareholders who work in production, reported Home Channel News. Canoe Forest Product is part of the Gorman Family of Companies, and LP Golden, which entered the LVL business in 1997, was acquired by LP from Evans Forest Products in 1999.
APA president Ed Elias said the participation of the three companies would give the association a stronger presence in Canada, as well as a more diverse voice in the plywood industry. He noted that 60% of Canada's plywood industry is now a part of the APA.
