Once again, Publix has been ranked as one of FORTUNE magazine’s 500 list. Publix ranked No. 104 on this year’s list — up from No. 108 last year — and No. 6 in the food and drug category.
“Although Publix is a regional company, we’re admired across the nation because of our commitment to our associates and their commitment to the communities we serve. We wouldn’t be able to achieve this recognition without our associates and their dedication.”
“I believe we are a strong, healthy and vibrant company because we own it,” said Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw. “Although Publix is a regional company, we’re admired across the nation because of our commitment to our associates and their commitment to the communities we serve. We wouldn’t be able to achieve this recognition without our associates and their dedication.”
Companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years, incorporated and operations in the U.S. and file financial statements with a government agency. More information about the survey, how companies were ranked and the entire list can be found at FORTUNE’s website, www.fortune.com.
Publix is privately owned and operated by its 167,500 employees, with 2013 sales of $28.9 billion. Currently Publix has 1,077 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. The company has been named one of FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in America” for 17 consecutive years. In addition, Publix’s dedication to superior quality and customer service is recognized as tops in the grocery business, most recently by an American Customer Satisfaction Index survey.
