Global production of PX in 2020 will increase to 48.8 million tonnes from current level of 36.5 million tonnes, report finds

NEW DELHI , May 30, 2014 (South Asian Government News) – National Textile Corporation Limited, The Government of India has issued the following news release:

Paraxylene (PX) production capacity is increasing in the global market, mainly because majority of the PX is utilized for production of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), a key raw material in the textile industry for making polyester fabrics.

The predictable global production of PX in 2020 will increase to 48776 thousand tons from the current level of 36532 thousand tons, states a new report “Global Polyester Value chain Market analysis & Forecast, 2014-2020”, published by Fibre2fashion.com.

The latest report indicates that the total production of PX in the world is estimated at 36532 thousand tons in 2013, up from production of 21306 thousand tons in 2004. This shows that there is a significant increase of around 71.46 percent in 2013 as compared to 2004. In other words, the global PX production has registered a CAGR of 5.54 percent during 2004-2013.
